Look at all those Nixie tubes!
This sums up the uselessness that is NASA.
These are the same people who threw out Apollo 11 material because it was useless junk. Unfortunately, we may never know what is on those 200+ reels.
It's the natural progression of things: engineers and scientists used to run NASA, and they'd be all over that old data. Now, bureaucrats run it, and old data doesn't get funding dollars to keep them in their cushy jobs.
We can send men to the Moon, but we cannot archive the data for history. Says a lot about our short-term, goal-oriented way of thinking.
I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of labeling, securely archiving, and making available for public retrieval, all records and data of potential historical significance to future generations.
Ask not what history can do for you, and thank you for volunteering to do what you can for history...
"Destroy the data"
WHAT THE F.U.K.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
someone bring a high powered magnet to that "archivist’s" home pc then we'll see how he feels about "destroy the data".
or better yet. lets get a fundraiser going and save these parts of history before they are completely lost
