I have decided to schedule, irregularly, on days when I know I’m going to be at DMS anyway, informal “rap sessions” on numismatic topics, partly in the hope of raising interest. The first has been submitted for 10 PM on Wednesday the 17th, when I will be coming back from the Numismatics International club meeting.

I find the coins and paper money very interesting, but I’m drawn more to studying the minting and coining processes. I’d like to get to the point that I am making coins here at MakerSpace using casting, rolling, and die stamping.
As I am sure I have mentioned, I have been slowly working on developing my own mint for a while now. My plan is to construct a screw-type coining press, & build or obtain the various other necessary equipment & fittings. Right now I’m concentrating on the making of dies, because there’s a particular bottleneck at that point.
