Not here! - Sawdust collection fire

Yes! The unit we ordered includes a built in powder fire suppression system. If an ember did get sucked into the system the unit will shut down and deploy powder to extinguish itself… hopefully we never see it in action!

Explosions are the main risk with a dust collector. More so than fire because the aggregate surface area is greater.

That’s a Donaldson Torit bag house system. They make a damn good system. There ought to be an abort gate linked to a spark detection system somewhere in it.

I used to have one that was half of that double unit. We had a big cyclone in front of it that dropped most of the shavings out of a rotary airlock and into a flatbed trailer. The fines that went to the baghouse get caked up, so a shaker system knocks it off into 55 gallon drums. The drums were damn heavy when full, as the fines were dense as hell.

I’d give my first born child to have that system here. You can never have too much dust collection.
