Non-pyrotechnic smoke bombs?

Does anyone know a place in the DFW area where one can purchase non-pyrotechnic smoke bombs? Enola Gaye products look great, but I do not see any dealers listed in Texas.

I’m also looking for a large fan I can rent or borrow to generate wind.

This is for an experiment where I am testing the use of smoke and an undercranked camera to try to make make something that looks plausibly like flying through snow at 300 mph.

In video production we used what was called A/B smoke. It was two chemicals the first one is glacial acetic acid and the second was a strong solution of ammonia. Was mainly used for food commercials. To make steamy food. You don’t mix them you just have the vapors from the two bottles mix.

Not real dense and stinks, may work for you.

Super interesting—I had never heard of this! Thanks for sharing.

For those interested in learning more, I found some specially prepared AB smoke at Roger George Special Effects: AB Smoke – Roger George Special Effects

It looks like it would be difficult to generate the volume of smoke I need for this effect though—especially as it sounds like you’re not supposed to breathe the fumes.

Here is my favorite DIY tutorial for Pyro Smoke.

As for non-pyro smoke, the best options I have seen have been using smoke machines. Here is a link to 1500 Watt machines on Aliexpress.

I like the 1500 watt machines as they are way better than the tiny 500 watt machines. Also if you price compare Ali to stateside suppliers you will see a drastic price difference. You can also choose between fluids to get the kind of smoke you need.

You can rent a fog machine from lighting companies. The ones used for events use a safe liquid.

So, I have experience at driving through blizzards above the legal posted speed limit. Snow is a very large particulate, and looks as such even at 80+ mph; especially at night.

I would suggest small foam pellets, like what you might pull out of a bean bag chair.

Be careful if you go with the glacial acid. I use it in a photography process and once spilled some down my arm when pouring into a beaker. It blistered and burned my forearm quite nicely
