Hi Everyone,
I heard there were some changes in the last BOD Meetings and I was wondering where the minutes are being saved as they are no longer on the Wiki.
Looks like the last meeting on the wiki was in October 2021.
Thanks for the help,
Nick
Hi Everyone,

source.dallasmakerspace.org is now the record repository
Log into Atlassian - DMS Source
It currently requires login, which requires active membership, which is causing some frictionā¦
Ahh,
Not a current member, so canāt check it. Could you check if the mask mandate had been lifted? I heard a rumor it had and it is a deciding rule for me to consider starting my membership back up. The last I heard there was some number requirement, but also heard that was thrown out as well.
Thanks,
Nick
An announcement was made by the Secretary on a Members-only category where this is concerned. I have no desire to override that choice. I will point out, however, that if you browse to our main web site, the popup about special restrictions is no longer popping upā¦
It is still posted at the top of the main wiki page
Yeah, I noticed that had been removed and asked a couple people I knew about it. They werenāt sure and are not active Talk / Website user, you know the crazies that just make stuff.
Since this post, Iāve also gotten a few PMs also stating that the mask mandate was removed. Thanks for the help.
Sorry to pull you into what seems like another BS inside Baseball Politics, judging by the disclaimer. Seems like even the removal of rules that effect the Members and Public at DMS are now :hush: :hush:???
Not sure why @jast decided it was secret, as it is not. Masks are now recommended but not required. Iāve removed the notice on the wiki - thanks for the heads up.
@jast was not the person who posted the announcement to a members-only category, nor did he say it was a secret.
It was posted to the board category which I forgot was members only but I flagged the post to have it moved to Announcements (public) and pinned.
There has not been much good news lately.
I would have thought this decision would have been shouted from the highest mountaintop.
Now that the primary proponent (the name of my next bandā¦) of making categories other than Members Only closed is no longer a member, is it time to completely reverse that āillegalā policy decision? We continue to have problems with new members and those who have not requested the magic decoder ring not being able to see stuff.
As decisions go, this one is a firm āmehā. While it lets the selfish indulge their fantasies, Covid is not gone. Iām not specifically arguing that we should have kept masks mandated, as numbers are, indeed, currently down. And, my personal mask-wearing is getting a bit sporadic. However, I am giving a huge eye-roll to folks who think they canāt wear a mask.
Yes, itās nice that itās moved from red āhigh riskā to orange āextreme cautionā.
Hope we can be pacient with each other as COVID hopefully is vaning.
Masks are optional at DMS as people are likely to have different circumstances, some are more at risk, or are in contact with those who are.
It really is such good news right now. Even being Orange seems to not make since.
Just good new!!!
Denton county is showing community levels as low, or less 10 Covid admissions per 100K per week, which is pretty amazing.
Note that per the CDC, masking is still recommended for indoor crowds.
I can sympathize with those choosing to remain masked while the pandemic fades and for cold and flu seasons.
Teachers and event organizers should be allowed to require masking.
Still, I am happy that the ludicrous requirement for masking while chewing between bites is gone. Someone working alone in a room should not be required to be masked.
For reference, the old rules: New-covid-19-policies - Dallas Makerspace
With the original fatality estimate from Imperial College indicating the USA would lose 2-4 million Americans, the response we saw was certainly warranted from the onset. We simply didnāt know how this pandemic would play out; ignoring the risk was not an option.
So here we are 2 years later with 1 million dead Americans, and probably as many dead businesses. Coronavirus has mutated from the deadly Wuhan, to a less deadly Delta, to Omicron which spiked the death toll again just by its rapid contagion. By the time most people caught Omicron (and I think the numbers were far higher than reported), they had some form of acquired immunity, or the virus was weakened enough that it just didnāt kill like Wuhan. Also, treatment advanced to outpatient protocols which prevented progression.
Honestly, I think DMS handled this mess pretty well. We did not have a major contact tracing event, no DMS spread fatalities, and the Space is still intact, although some damage was taken.
Did we prevent 1-3 million fatalities? With our vaccines, mitigation, and protocols, I would put the number >1 million deaths avoided.
Retracting my non-excellent statement.
Unfortunately rules like that were put in place in some businesses and areas way back in the beginning because jackasses would do things like bring big containers of some kind of snack and sit there eating one chip/nut/pretzel every 15-20 mins for 2 hours just to be able to claim they were still āeatingā. Or sitting there with a single fry or other food just in their mouths for a hour still āeatingā it. SMH
Iām glad we managed to make it to point where thatās not a concern so much anymore
