NO. do not do this....aka how to piss off Axie

moving forward this is NOT the way to leave a note saying that the printer is not printing. This is not being excellent what so ever… use the white boards above the printer and a dry erase board marker OR sticky note.

i am not pleased. not what so ever.

Wow. I can’t believe people would do that.

yes…sad.

They do it because 1) they’re jerks; and 2) they can act like jerks without the consequences usually found in the real world.

Unless I am missing something, this is vandalism…no?

Wow as well … what are people thinking doing that? I guess they aren’t

Just use a magic eraser…

Magic eraser can easily scratch the acrylic.

NO!!!

That stuff is a type of fine abrasive and will cloud the plexi. Just use a soft, lint free cloth and some rubbing alcohol and it will come right off.

Raymond is right. if it were that easy far righty’s glass wouldnt be in the state it is in.

i also cant tell what kind of marker that he used because from the camera he does not grab the dry erase marker that was on the counter between lefty and righty, instead using his own…which could be permanant marker for all i know

Acetone then, eh?
Dunno if it eats plexi, or not…

Acetone would completely dissolve the plexiglass if given enough time. I think alcohol would work better because it isn’t as strong of a solvent. (amongst other reasons :cocktail: )

No… rubbing alcohol will take it off.

Buffing with Novus #3, then #2 should bring back a lot of the plexiglass to clear polished.

First, I am outraged at the self-absorbed ignorant behavior of the person who did this.

It can be removed with food grade oil - canola or equivalent. Assuming it’s a Sharpie marker, a few minutes of gentle rubbing with canola oil and a soft cloth will remove it. At first it doesn’t look like anything is happening but it does come off this way. I just confirmed this with a test on some acrylic laser-cutting scraps.

Of course, then you will have to use a legitimate plexiglass cleaner to remove the canola oil residue because glass cleaners contain ammonia which will fog the plexi.

way not to :party_on: :rage:

We put it up everywheres, use talk, send an email/sms to [email protected] or you know, just bloody tell someone at the space most likely someone knows the right person to point you in the right direction.

There’s even a dry erase board right there in the 3d fab, and sticky notes/masking tape in the commons, a working printer in the hallway plus a pin up board right in front of 3d fab. Not that hard to leave a note!

Sorry for the rant my fellow makers but had to get it off my chest. Even if said person may or may not be on Talk to see this hopefully the message is clear.

:party_on::party_on::party_on:

This person shouldn’t be using our equipment - total disrespect and creating problems for everyone else. I agree with the characterization of vandalism not “leaving a note” I notice they were smart/not brave enough to not leave their name.

Wouldn’t this come under the new ruling the board has about blatant abuse of tools?

i am giving this person ample time to come forth and say “oops my bad- how to fix” but if i dont hear anything im going forward with the next step

(for those who did not make it to the meeting or dont know what Dwight is talking about:)

5.3 Misuse and Abuse Rule (Luke Olson)

  • AS WRITTEN: “Create a rule that would allow the organization to bill members
for costs incurred that are greater than the membership dues paid.”
  • DISCUSSION
    • Luke: Had multiple member ask if they can print thousands of pages on the
copier; numerous other ways that members can drain DMS finances. Want to
head this off; could just do it for copier.
    • Amelia: Other issues have come up in CA. [Alex: rules for value recovery]
    • Bryan: Saw someone using Festool to sand down a pallet.
    • Chuck Graff: Timer likely to be installed on welders, removal of
      consumables due to cost
    • Alex: Idea of DMS is for almost everything to be available for members to
use in order to complete their project
    • Mike Cole: So long as people can pay for the materials, don’t see an
issue; will always be an issue of “did they pay?”
    • Luke: Concern is about large-scale abuse rather than minor excess
    • Mike Cole: Rules currently indicate that breaking something is OK
    • Chuck Graff: Statement to membership that you are expected to be
responsible in use of resources, and can be censured by board?
    • Luke: Willing to present it to the membership.
  • MOTION: “DMS may invoice members for incurring costs to DMS significantly in
excess of their monthly dues. Determination of excess to be submitted by
Committee Chairs and the member billed by resolution of the Board.”
    • PROPOSED BY: Erik
    • SECONDED BY: Luke
    • VOTE: Passed with 4 in favor, Alex Rhodes abstains

that being said i would like if anyone knows who was using Far Righty at 12:45 pm on 10/30/16 to please contact either [email protected] or @axeonos so we can talk about this.

i am a merciful god…but dont tempt me.
