Ninja flex: anyone know if there's already some at the space?

I’m wanting to print some parts in NinjaFlex … are there any partial spools already up at the Makerspace? Does anyone know? I’d rather not purchase an entire spool if I don’t need to… did I just not see them?
Thanks,
Joe

There’s several partial rolls in the locked cabinet in 3D fab (with the big “?”). I can show you specifically how to set the Polyprinters up for printing Ninjaflex. For now we have used Far Righty for ninjaflex with good results. You can message me we can meet up soon for the training.

BTW, We have silver, black, orange, and very little white left

Hey Mitch,

Would it be possible to purchase some Ninja flex to test out on my Printer Bot at home? How does ninja flex compare to other flexible materials? Wanting to make molds for wax casting, Tried PLA but it stuck to it. I am guessing that It would need to melt hotter than the temperature of the wax in order to hold the shape. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Matt

It’s very flexible, like cooked spaghetti. You would probably want to upgrade your extruder to the geared extruder like we got for the printrbot in 3D fab. It melts around 230-250 like ABS. It would probably work great for mold making. It prints very nicely honestly as long as you figure out the retraction settings to have it not get stringy. It sticks to itself and bed tape really well so no issues with warping. Just get the flow rate correct and you’ll be fine.

You could also buy some semi-flex which would be easier to work with.

It’s $50/lb so have at it.

3D fab should have ordered some more recently but not sure on the status of this.
