New to the Wheel: Expertise Needed

Greetings!

Is there anyone with some experience throwing on the wheel that would be willing to work with my once or twice? I’ve watched many how-to videos and have attempted to center (unsuccesfully) twice. I would be happy to bring you coffee, lunch, or a 6-Pack in thanks for you assistance with showing me the basics.

Please let me know!

During the week, you might see if Beth can help you. She is often in the common room. Right now she is at Scarborough Fair on weekends

I would be willing to help you. just send me a PM of when you are planning to be around DMS and I’ll try and make it out to help.

Oh thank you nick!! I have concerts this week/weekend but after that I plan
to head up there on Saturdays!! I will send you a message

Be aware of the differences in upper body strength. Elizabeth is our best female for throwing. I’m adequate, but have issues with centering. As a very broad answer, just try for a smaller amount of clay to try and center. Burly guys have an advantage…

Hi nick!

The this is Brianna again- we have finally ended school and I now have some
free time! I would love to go over throwing and centering on the wheel with
you sometime this coming week or soon- please let me know what times work
for you  thanks again for your help and let me know if you would like a
case of beer or something yummy in return for your assistance!

Thanks

I can do Tuesday after work. Say 6:00 PM?
I’m at DMS most week days from 5PM to 7PM except Mondays. So that is generally a good time to catch me waiting out the traffic home and bull shitting.

I’m running by the store- what type of beverage do you fancy?

O, No need for any beverages, if you want to do anything a small donation to fired arts committee feels more appropriate. Especially when you see how much Nathan does to keep the area clean and running.

Thank you for all of your help! I’m pleased that I can sort of center now
 next step, even pulling

 You did a great job,
You can now center! That is a big learn for a beginner, with practice you will only get better at it. You also managed to do some good pulling of the clay, this was a success as well. Your learning fast, those are big steps considering we only worked on it for an hour.

I’m excited to see how well you do Thursday!

Hey Nick,

I’m helping my parents with some of their things this afternoon so I don’t
think I’ll be able to get down there today! I’ll be at the shop Sunfay for
the ring class and I plan to do a little work while I’m there. I also want
to go down their Tuesday or Wednesday- Will you be there any of those days?

Thanks!

I’ll be there Sunday,
I work with the finance committee in the morning on Sunday, so after that I’m open to help. We usually finish around 1:30 to 2 PM. I’ll probably be around Tuesday and Wednesday as well after work, but no guarantee, unless you want to plan something for those days.

I’ll be there around 2:30 on Sunday- could you help me with pulling height?
Have fun with your meeting: finance isn’t my speciality
