New Member, wanting to learn Fired Arts :)

Hello! I’m a brand new member and I’m very interested in learning fired arts. I’m not looking to be an expert, but just wanting to learn the basics so that I can make clay pots for my indoor plants.
@cmcooper0 <-I think i met you this past sunday and you suggested i post on here

Please let me know if I need to take a class, or if i should self teach on you tube and if the area is free to use anytime.

Thank You!

Yay! More Fired Arts peeps.

There are no required classes to use the wheels, hand tools, slab roller etc. so you are ready to jump right in. My personal recommendation for YouTube instruction is Hsin Lin: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCgOv-bHeFHnbZE_2fs6YTdQ

That said, I highly recommend taking any and all classes you can manage, every potter brings something different to the table. If you would like, I can also meet up with you sometime this weekend or next week to do a quick hands-on introduction. Let me know if this is something you are interested in and we can compare schedules (I’ll be up on both Sat and Sunday).

We also have a Fired Arts committee meeting this upcoming Wednesday at 8pm.

And clean up after yourself. The clay trap is installed under the sink in the janitor’s closet (in between the bathrooms directly across the hall from Creative Arts), so it’s the only sink where you should wash out the tubs and pour out your water that’s got clay in it.
