New Member tours?

Hello,

I just joined DMS, and in the email it references a Thursday tour (which should be today?). The link in the email redirects to a Google Calendar, with an invalid search, and the DMS calendar doesn’t show tours on any Thursdays…

Searching the forum for “tours” shows an old thread about moving the tours to a different day or schedule, but nothing specific…

So, when are the tours, and how are new members supposed to find them?

Tours start at 7pm in the front lobby. And pretty much keep going on until 8:30-ish. You did get the address, right? 1825 Monetary Lane Suite 104 Carrollton

With luck somebody with good connections to the links will fix the rest.

Tours are at 7PM every Thursday. Meet in the front lobby. People tend to start showing up about 6:45 and we try to keep the groups a manageable size so they tend to start about every 10 minutes or so until about 7:30.

Awesome, thanks for the details.

The welcome email contains a link: Open Tour Night x-webdoc://558B81D8-70E4-40FD-9629-67453AAB6F64/dallasmakerspace.org/calendar

which (on my browser) redirects to a (Google) search which does give a first hit to the DMS calendar. But then the calendar doesn’t list tours. Not a huge thing, but a bit confusing.

Ya know – I think that PR was putting the tour night on the calendar. Clearly it’s not automatic. I don’t want my name on it, or I’d do it for you…

Curious what’s in the new member email.
This was my suggestion, which doesn’t contain that at all, and nether did the one in place at the time of this post (which can be seen in the post immediately preceding)…

I have done it in the past. I will put them in usually 2 months in advance. I have put them in through the end of July but in reality if anyone doesn’t see it on the calendar they can put it in. Its just an event that is in the lobby from 7 - 9.

that is done through whmcs and I (and a few others) can update the message if there is a consensus. I haven’t audited the sign up process in over a year (did it for mm3 implementation) and I am sure there needs to be some updates. If I don’t hear anythingin about 2 weeks I will go ahead and update that email.
