New Logo for Science

Inspired by the work that ceramics put into updating their source and logo, I’m thinking that Science could also use a bit of a refresh. So I’ve come up with a potential new logo incorporating all 5 of our areas (rocketry, physics, chemistry, biology, and scientific computing), our green color, the makerspace logo as a launchpad, and a bestagon (hexagon).

I’m no artist/graphics designer so I thought I’d see here if anyone has suggestions for improvements.

I’m no scientist and I’m a previous graphic designer and I love it!

I’m think I’m going to go ahead and add it to our source page. Edits can be made later if necessary.

I like it but I’m not a fan of the DMS logo in general. I think it itself is due for a refresh.

OMG - the hexagon IS the bestagon!

Not sure why science logo has the muffler on it though.

Its supposed to be a computer screen to represent scientific computing. I think the challenge is that the form factors and human interfaces for electronic devices change so much that they are not as recognizable across generations. For example, I imagine for some younger folks they may have only used a phone or tablet and not a desktop and monitor. And who knows if people will be able to make augmented reality glasses a thing but they are trying.

The part that has science written on it. That was the logo for the mechanics shop to rep a muffler I though

Ahh thats part of the Dallas Makerspace official logo.
