In terms of tool boxes, I respectfully disagree with Zach. Cheap tool boxes will fall apart very quickly, most commonly with the drawers getting progressively more difficult to open or close. My suggestion would be to look for a quality brand (like Kennedy) on craigslist and to be prepared to spend what the tool is worth.
Until then you could make do with plastic tubs that are labeled and stored on cheap shelving.
I saw that, but we are on a really tight budget, funds are really limited. Right now we just have tools out all over the place, and we have alot more dress up projects to enhance the way the space looks.
If we had a couple thousand in reserve Iād be all over it, the tubs and cheap shelving are what we are using now. We have like 6-8 people using the tools, so we shouldnāt have an issue with tons of people wrecking the tool box. Just looking for a decent organization tool box to keep stuff off the tables.
We (DMS as a whole) are actually still using the first Harbor Freight toolchest we purchased at least four years ago, and it has held up pretty wellā¦
Iām pretty sure the one in metal shop is Harbor Freight, for whatever that might possibly be worth.
Gotta say I agree with Zach AND Walter, but sub $400 for the box Zach linked is a lot of store for not much dough. Get it. Use it. Save for the Kennedy and hopefully you can move into it before the HF craps outā¦
Gotta say, though, Iāve been on this fence for a while (wanting cheap over quality) and canāt decide between HF and other CSL brands like Husky or Kobalt, so I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems like no matter what you do is wrong, so just choose one, be wrong, and enjoy the ride anyway! Choose a different wrong answer next time.
