If you’re using the multicam in the future, you may be confused by the new green handled wrenches in the drawer:
Good news, all of the collets, collet nuts, and wrenches have been replaced! Machine as normal.
This was done for 2 reasons:
1- Those tools all have a service life and they were well past theirs (just looking at all the deformation on the nuts alone)
2- there’s been some discussion that many of the table gouges that have happened recently were attributable to bit slipping, possibly because the collets were bent, deformed, etc.
So we replaced everything that way we have a fighting chance at eliminating this issue.
Please remember to use the compressed air to blow out the collets and collet nuts before putting them on the machine! Tightening the down with chips in them will, overtime, cause failure.
