I’ve been a member at DMS for over a year and just recently was elected Chair of printmaking. I was wondering if there are any guidelines for becoming a chair? What am I supposed to be doing, I know I call meetings on a monthly basis, but I can’t figure out how or where to post meeting notes to the WIKI.
I’m kinda lost and thought maybe there was some documentation on how to go about being a chair. I’m not even sure the DMS main committee knows I’m the chair because I don’t know who I’m supposed to contact about that either. Please advice.
I am a bit short on time, but would love to help where I can. I hope someone else will jump in with actual assitance.
Meanwhile, so you’re not left empy-handed, here’s a bit of reading on the topic from @brsims
Regarding minutes on the wiki: (BTW the arrows below expand the details on how)
1. Create a new wiki page for each date committee meeting (typically done when you actually have minutes).
Create a new page by typing in the name of the new page in the search box (for example Printmaking Committee Meeting 20200926). This name is consistent with the others that have already been created.
It will tell you that page does not exist and allows you to click to create it.
You can do this from either the EDIT button or the EDIT SOURCE button - your preference. (EDIT doesn’t seem to have a CANCEL button - you will have to back out of it if you need to abort)
If you use the pre-formatted headings it will create the table of contents. Purely optional.
Type in the minutes
4. Alternate ... upload a pdf file and link to it from the new, properly-categorized wiki page.
The minutes must be linked from the wiki - but as long as create the page per steps 1 & 2 above, you can just upload a pdf file and link to it from the new page.
After you have done steps 1 & 2, and saved it … note that on the LHS of the menu, near the bottom, it says “upload a file”.
This cannot be done while you are editing the page.
Pay attention to the name you give the file (the destination filename). I’ve typed in a sample above - and my example links below are based on that hypothetical file name.
