New Arrangement of 3D FAB. Thanks Lisa

I love the new arrangement, I think this will lessen the clogging at the door. Great work and a pat on the back is due.

Thanks @Nick! It’s a work in progress… I wanted to get the Design PCs moved to their new spot before our new PolyPrinter arrives. We have two 2’ x 4’ tables (like the ones already being used by Lefty and Righty) that will be put against the orange wall for Righty and Far Righty…

I’ve been trying to think of a way to keep the concrete table; but, it’s just too large for the room - now that we have so much equipment in there (and more coming in the next few months)…

On that note: If anyone can think of a good room/area/use for that concrete table outside of the 3D Fab room, let me know! It’s awesome having a table that can handle so much torture as it gets by our Makers! I hope it can find a new home somewhere in the 'Space! :smile:

EDIT to add: The PC that had been under the tables (and not being used) in the 3D Fab Room at the old 'Space is no longer going to be used by 3D Fab. It acts like it has an OS issue; but, the drive has been reimaged twice and problems persist… So, I’m ā€œguessingā€ it’s a hardware issue. I have done no additional troubleshooting or diagnostics on it because quite frankly, it’s not really powerful enough to be used as a design PC anyway… If any committee wants to try to get it to work for any reason, let me know. It’s in the 3D Fab room near the door, if you want to plut it in somewhere in the big room (Room 1) and check it out… :slight_smile:

I’d like to get it working for no reason other than to get it working. I plan to be around tomorrow probably. Can you give a description of the problem in case it isn’t immediately obvious upon inspection?

(This thread is worthless without pics)

Can move the concrete table into the auto area, we need another table there now that we have some more floor space

I’m going to be at the Space in a few minutes to cut some acrylic on the laser cutter. After that’s finished I’ll probably see if I can take a look at the machine if @benemorius isn’t looking at it or has fixed it already.

I haven’t touched it.

Stopped by 3d fab to take a picture to make the thread not ā€˜worthless’

I really like the new arrangement, the slicing computers against the window don’t have glare now and kind of block the sun. Also on the right slicing computer, I borrowed the dell keyboard from the common room until you get a replacement keyboard. That compaq keyboard is done.

@benemorius & @commandhat … Y’all are welcome to look at that PC; but, you will have to find a spot where you can set it up for a few days (and/or at the least several hours to run hardware dx on it…). It’s possible to get it to boot into Windows (eventually) and it will work fine… for hours… or days… then it will just shut off. THEN NOT boot back into Windows - for several attempts… Until… it decides to boot up correctly again. That’s why I thought it was an OS issue at first; but, it’s been reimaged twice now; and, the same issues persist. It works ā€œokā€ when it wants to work; but, it’s not powerful enough to really bother using as a design PC anyway - so not really worth my effort to troubleshoot it further…

If y’all get it up and running, please post a response here just so we know; and, please also post a new thread (from the main ā€œall categoriesā€ list or ā€œOff Topicā€) advising there is a PC available for use by any Committee that has a need for it. Please include the specs in that thread so the Committee Chairs know whether it will suit their needs.

Thanks!

@Brandon_Green ~ Y’all can have it! :smiley:
I’ll move the printer off of it tonight, so you can take it whenever you are ready for it! :smile:

Be aware that the top is not actually connected to the frame. It’s extremely heavy and will need to be moved in two parts - with a dolly or something that can handle the weight. Once it’s in your area, it’s not too difficult to move from one spot to another - just remember to have someone help and lift the frame (it’s easy to forget and grab the concrete table top to try to move it a few inches/feet; but, def not a good idea - since it’s not connected! :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue: )

Thanks and Enjoy!!!

@Brandon_Green lol
@commandhat lol 'n Thx

I was there last night and tried to get a pic; but, my battery was too low and the phone kept dying… ugh. @oyetkin saw my struggles and actually took a 360 pic of the room for me to share! (Thanks Oğuz!) I was gonna post them last night; but, blinked 'n next thing I know it was time to go to work! (lol?)

I’ll post them to add to this thread in a bit! :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

'n as promised…

Here is a link to the interactive version of the 360 pic of the 3D Fab Room: http://360.io/kK4TaJ (kewl stuff!)

'n here are a couple stills from the same image:

ā€œstereographicā€

Thanks again Oğuz!

'n on that note… as soon as @Brandon_Green takes the cement table out, it will begin it’s next phase of transition… (ok, it’s going to be in transition quite a bit over the next few weeks, as that table is taken out, then the new tables are brought in along with the new printer soon, etc… :wink: :slight_smile: )

Fun times! :smiley:

Thanks @themitch22!

I am bringing a keyboard up tonight, as well as mice (so members have a choice between the trackball or mouse on one of the PCs. The other two will just have mice…).

Did we get that Compaq keyboard from you or James? (I’ve blinked since it’s arrival…). I’m wondering if it just seems like it’s not working from getting bumped/jarred… it’s an old ps2 type so would probably need to be reseated and the PC restarted to bring it back to life, if that’s the case. :wink:

I’ll be putting it on the give away shelf if it’s owner doesn’t want it back…

Thx!
