Need your chainsaw sharpened? I'll show you how tonight

This isn’t a class per se, but I’ll bring my electric chainsaw sharpener (Harbor Freight special) to the DMS tonight.

If you are interested, I’ll show you how to use it and help you sharpen your chainsaw chain.

Setup is easy, it takes less than 10 minutes, and the machine will pay for itself after two uses.

Bring your chain off the saw, or the equipment needed to remove the chain from the saw. I’ll also show you how to adjust the tension on the chain when reinstalling. FWIW, I use two chains: the one on the saw and a sharp one in a Tupperware box with the saw in case I need to swap out in the field.

I’ll be at the DMS this afternoon starting around 5pm. Taking a class from 6-8 so find me early or late. I’ll set it up on a table in the workshop.

Can we con you into sharpening the chainsaw at the space? Or if someone needs a saw to work on, feel free. Looking at you bowl turners .

I already planned on that @AlexRhodes, assuming there is enough chain left to sharpen - I haven’t looked at the chain.

Unless there has been significant use or some sort of monkey business, the chain on the DMS Makita should be nearly new; it was replaced on or around March 28th. We also have a spare chain (old one) around for it as well.

Did you forget of whence you speak?

The DMS chain was still sharp and hooked, so I did not bother sharpening it again.

Did you check the spare (old) one?

Ahhh…if only we had an emoji reaction icon of a broke down old horse → :nag:
