My principal has offered me a challenge. I need to raise $1,500 to help obtain a laser for our high school. Apparently the crack got smaller but not closed thankfully. I have a personal donor who’s willing to put in $1K and another organization that will put in $1K because they use it so much and the rest is sat upon on my shoulders. He said I could be creative - so lot’s of angles will be used with this.
Unfortunately, I can’t do a bake sale because peanuts, liability, and a scorching red hot contract with the food service people that slays all your memories of cookies tied with ribbon null and void.
I am not worried.
I am creative and resourceful.
I’m a teacher - challenges are delicious.
Yes - to answer your question - I am looking at grants and serious money avenues, like writing with proper commas and consequences. ALL OF THIS IS JUST PROOF OF CONCEPT! I want no actual money right now. I just need to prove to him that if I pull the trigger on this funds will come in.
Here’s the plan:
I’m going to do this probably with a gofundme account (I can’t touch the money - if it’s funded items come to the school without the trouble of red tape) so I can further the LHS makerspace energy. Hopefully, I can find “matching funds” where the amount you donate is matched thus every $5 is $10. I might need to quickly form a booster club not maintained by me to do a go-around.
All I need from you guys is a “promise/pledge” that IF/WHEN I open this go fund me you would put $5 in the account. I’m going to print out the responses and give them to my joyful and wonderfully-happy but financially-constrained boss. The worst thing would be empty promises - because honestly promised money not delivered would come out of my own pocket out of guilt - and that’s good travel money people.
So if you’re willing to “pledge” $5 respond below.
So ya, I know this is unusual but I’m really trying. Please don’t hate. Or if you hate please be creative with your hatred.
