I would consult a dry cleaner or tailor shop.
Zippers arenât fun to deal with. Zippers in finished garments are even less fun to deal with.
I have repaired a few broken or lost pulls with the zipper rescue kits, about $10 on Amazon. You just need a set of pliers. If it is just rusted shut you might try some sewing machine oil which is supposedly stainless.
This is mineral oil in almost all cases. You are correct that it does not stain. When it isnât mineral oil, itâs a very pure silicon oil (longer lasting, âdryerâ lubricant). It also does not stain.

I wouldâve charged you more that than to replace it. Zippers are full of suck!
It really wasnât bad at all. The actual zipper track was fine. It was the end piece and pull that needed replacing!
