Need a Welder to Help Me Make Something

Looking for some one to help weld something for me, shouldn’t be too difficult I don’t think. It’s basically one large metal disc with a pole going up, then another much smaller disk part way down on the pole and welded on. I drew a terrible picture in paint to help give an idea. There is a ring freely floating in between both discs.

The difficult part will be cutting the circles out. Until someone chimes in with the status of the plasma table,

be thinking about adding dimensions to the drawing, including what the finished weight of the piece should be.

Weight can be heavy. Preferable to light. the base will be maybe 1’ diameter, second circle maybe 3" diameter, rod perhaps 3/4"? I have to go measure it out still.

Probably better than waiting for the plasma table will be having the pieces cut at the store.

These guys should have plasma inhouse. If not there’s a couple more just like them in Dallas, and one in Plano

that I know of. An 1/8" base should give you a finished weight close to ten pounds. The welding will be stronger if

you also have them cut a reasonably close fitting center hole for the pipe in both of the disks.

Do you know how much something like that would cost?

A lot of variables in that equation, but the steel I usually buy costs about $1 a pound retail.

It would be hard for me to imagine that the whole thing would be more than $50.

If I’m way off there’s plenty of resources available to get it cheaper, but they’re hardly worth messing with

for a single custom job.
