I’ve observed that it just helps many folks get stuck better.
I’ve observed that it encourages hordes of Jeeps to drive around - ostensibly to serve the public - where they spin out into ditches in numbers disproportionate to their representation in the population.
Many drivers forget that while 4WD/AWD doubles your ability to accelerate, it doesn’t give you 8 wheel braking.
And I heard a likely accurate interpretation of the current forecast. Open your window and look. That is the current forecast weather.
Considering the slightly above freezing temperatures, I thought the roads would just be wet when I started out for DMS this morning but reconsidered as the snow is coming down faster than it can melt making things slippery.
It’s been cold enough that it’s not melting on the road here. What has fallen is already packing.
An hour makes a difference. I left about an hour ago to top off my fuel in case I get called out. I had a few phone calls while out, in that time, the road went from not really bad to starting to get slick.
Watched nighttime temps remain above freezing then assumed the snow would run off. Seems that thermodynamics had other ideas and the ground remains close enough to frozen that nothing is running off.
