MultiCam Maintenance (May 25 2021)

I’m planning to be at DMS tonight around 7:30 to do some MultiCam maintenance.

Probably out unless I’m waiting for paint to dry. But my new collets should show up today and Im really curious to compare runout on new vs abused collets so if I get to painting stage early enough in the afternoon I’ll stop by

Do you mind if I run a job to show you I can use the machine while there?

I do not mind.

I got you added to the VCarve Users group. I have no idea what that means.

We appreciate your help keeping the multicam maintained. By chance did we clean out the controller box lately, I know that gets a ton of dust in it and the filter is probably clogging.

Yes! Yes I did!

That was the first thing I did tonight. I also knocked out the filter on the air pump. It wasn’t too bad.

Oh yeah. There was about 16 mm of very fine dust inside the cabinet. The filter removes the course stuff. The very fine dust passes inside.

The filter is destroyed. It’s torn. It’s stretched. It’s crushed.

I’ve asked @IanLee to find us a replacement. It appears to be a bog standard 80 mm course filter.

I’m thinking “monthly” is the rate at which that cabinet should be cleaned.

I’ve ordered a roll of filter media we can cut up to put in here. All the standard “filters” I could find were wire mesh plates that wouldn’t stop MDF dust at all.
