Mounting a "diamond painting"

I’ve almost completed one of those soul-sucking, wonderfully lovely “diamond paintings.”

I want to mount it on something fairly lightweight so it doesn’t weigh a ton on the wall. I’m also planning on leaving a border area to do mosac glasswork around it (before attaching the painting.)
Foam board warps, as does the shower board I use for dry erase boards.

Anyone have suggestions?

Also, I was thinking of using the magic carpet tape to stick it down. What do you think?

I think I’m going to seal it (YouTube video willing) and leave the thing open to the air (though, ugh, dust)

This is my first (and maybe last) one and I’d rather not screw it up.

Thanks for the help!

I think a piece of 1/8" plywood would be fairly lightweight for the amount of rigidity you want.

I would tag @TLAR for input, but I wonder about using stretcher bars (like an oil painting). Then build a simple frame to become the glass mosaic base.

I would not use canvas - it tends to sag under the weight over time of materials like tiles, glass, and today’s fad of epoxy resins.

A lightweight rigid board adhered to common stretcher bars as Judy recommends would keep the base light and and sturdy, plus it would be very easy to hang on a wall.
