Motorized Lift Ideas

I would like to build a storage cabinet approximately 42" x 54" for the corner space between my two couches. I would like the entire top of the cabinet to lift up to access the contents.

I was planning to use a standing desk frame such as Uplift or Jarvis, but unfortunately they are just a bit too tall in the minimum height position so that my final height is lower than the armrest of the couches. I haven’t planned the entire project obviously, but I would probably need a minimum height of 21"-22" to allow for the thickness of the cabinet top. The lowest standing desk I could find has a minimum height of 23".

Does anyone have any ideas for a quiet lift mechanism that could support the large top with a minimum height of 21"-22"?

If you want to build a fully custom system REV Robotics has of linear motion components:

If you want something more off the shelf take a look at these options:

You would still need to come up with a control system for these solutions but you could definitely customise this stuff to fit your needs

Chop of the legs, take out a little bit, reattach them to appropriate height needed and refinish to make look pretty is what I would do to those standing desks.

I appreciate the reply. I like these products because of the 7 year warranty, which would likely be voided.i

Uhm, raise the couches by an inch to match the desk’s minimum height?

Yes this would do it, thanks.

I was hoping to build the storage cabinet and use a lift mechanism out of the box to cut down on time.

I thought of that too, and even placed risers to accomplish that, but did not like the look of the couches sitting up on the risers. I already have felt pads installed.

Fake leg covers with risers hidden inside?

if I could make it match my expensive couches perfectly without it looking like I “improved” them I would consider it. I would have to take a look at what you are proposing.

It would be cool to maglev the legs when needed. Just an idea. Basically like a linear stepper motor. I’m sure it could be done with the right people behind the project. Not me at the moment, as I have projects to complete first.
