More project storage available

There is now ~1,000 cubic feet of more project storage available for use (in old science area). It follows the same rules, print a storage ticket at the kiosk before placing your project there. The bottom / floor is also a storage spot for larger projects.

That’s awesome!! Thank you

Well done, thank you.

Is a floor space available as project storage. I have a rolling tool box of supplies that I use for my classes that I cannot pick up and take down from a shell it needs to stay on the floor. If I can bring it back I am going to put up several non honorarium classes ASAP. That’s the only thing that’s holding me up on putting up classes is transporting the material for

The floor in the recently setup shelving and under work tables are all good project storage locations

Thank you thank you thank you I’m giving you the Gomer Pyle on that one. And I believe my husband will join me in that.

Please be sure to use pallets for anything on the floor, that way it’s easy to move if needed. Plus it keeps things looking nice!

Are the yellow tubs still rotting in 102? Things would look much nicer in tubs and probably much easier to offsite and stack as needed.

Toolbox is easy to move already since it is on Wheels and it even has a handle putting it on a pallet will just make it harder to move.

A lot of the project storage materials are too large for those bins. Last I heard there were volunteers who were going to write out the rules/process for paid storage using the bins but I haven’t heard anything in a while on it.

Projects may not fit in them well but the things most people are wanting to store will things like bags of clay one of those bins wood is least or six to eight bags of clay. And that’s enough for somebody doing an awful lot of pottery work. It will store my sheet metal it will store some of the tools that I use for my classes.

A lot of us had talked about this for months before those pens were bought and we decided on that size because it was large enough for most things and if you get much bigger than that they get so heavy they can’t be moved. That’s why there would be an option to be able to rent more than one. That was a lot of research put into the siding on those. We have a lot of people at the space now that are not just Woodworkers. I am sure that some of the people doing blast work may want to store some of their glass and one it’ll easily fit. Same thing with my sheet metal same thing with clay those are three things that are bookie heavy are just hard to carry our delicate then I’m sure a lot of people would be interested in storing. Ann Heck if we rent them out that we’re bringing some money

Right, I remember you mentioning that at a logistics meeting. I believe the Logistics Team is waiting on someone to write up the rules/process so that paid storage using the bins can move forward. I don’t recall who agreed to work on writing it up, but until we have a solid write-up there’s no way to implement paid/bin storage.

@richmeyer has advised me that the bins would have to have a 40lb limit on weight to ensure people trying to move them don’t get hurt.

So you know, maybe not six bags of clay.

Yepp, that’s right… Anything over 40 pounds is considered a two man lift to prevent injury. This is an OSHA regulation. Now I know some people at DMS swear that since DMS has no employees that we do not fall under the jurisdiction of OSHA. Just try to tell that to a Judge and Jury during an injury lawsuit. We still need to comply.

Supplier 25 lbs each so 6 would only be a hundred 50 lb but I don’t want to think about getting a hundred and fifty pounds in my car.
I was looking at some of the hardwood movers dollies yesterday from Harbor Freight thinking about trying to utilize them can move are wire grids for shows. I think one of those vans would fit nicely on one of those if anybody was storing something heavy and I then it might be a nice suggestion to suggest that they get one of those to put under it so it’s easier to move out Justin I do

I hate when that happens

Added another 200 cubic feet of general project storage
