I do not believe this is the end of Intel, but the next several years are going to be tough.
One has to wonder what Andy Grove would have to say about all this.

They’re in for a doozy. Intel fucked up and it could cost them billions of dollars by the time it’s all said and done. The scale of the defects is unclear because Intel hasn’t been strait forward about the situation and has contradicted themselves several times on the topic.

Interesting idea. Ain’t gonna happen - should not happen. Competition between the 2 gave us perf/price that otherwise would not have happened.
