Are meeting minutes still published the same day of the meeting? The minutes for the last membership meeting haven’t been published yet. Any ETA?
This usually indicates that quorum was not met, thus no meeting occurred.
Brooks, quorum was met, and we voted on two items, and tabled two others.
We voted that ban, temporary ban, and expel all mean the same thing. So rule #3 is still an expulsion and therefore a violation of our by laws. @frank_lima @ESmith and I are working on crafting by law changes to address this an several other issues with our by laws.
We also voted to demonstrate member opinion concerning any potential ban of alcohol. The members were against such a ban.
Thanks for the summary, Walter.
Was Erik (@ESmith) there to take minutes?
Yes here was there. Not sure who, if anyone, was taking the minutes.
What happens to votes that aren’t recorded in the minutes?
Nice…
Welp, hope they get posted…
Apologies for the delay. I will post the minutes today.
Minutes posted. I will endeavor to post them in a more prompt manner in the future.
Because our usage of the term “table” has been synonymous with “dismiss”, I have opted to use that terminology.
On behalf of the dedicated few who are unable to make these meetings in person, thank you!
Eric,
Just to clarify we did have a vote on the alcohol issue. It was a vote of support against banning alcohol at the space. No specific resolution attached, but I would like the minutes to reflect it. Also, @AlexRhodes kept a sign in sheet for all voting members present, I would appreciate it if that sheet was included in the minutes.
I would also like to note that we were only two members shy of the 33 needed to vote on by law changes.
There’s no point in voting on that?
Yes, many members felt there was a point given your board agenda item. Seemed pretty clear from the show of support that if the board chose to implement your proposed rule it would likely be voted down by the members.
Sure, but a vote on that effectively does nothing. If the board chose to enact such a rule, it would still take another member meeting to take it down.
At this point I don’t care too much, I’m just saying that the vote at this past membership meeting is a moot point (in that it effectively does nothing but show support [or lack thereof] of an idea), yeah?
I recall much discussion over the merits of an alcohol policy then a motion to dismiss with an overwhelming show of hands; short of the symbolism nothing substantial happened.
Yes Brooks you are correct; however, now the board would be choosing to pass a rule where they no a majority of voting member have demonstrated they oppose.
Also to be noted, @frank_lima agenda items were tabled because they called for modification to the by laws and he didn’t follow the procedures for a by law change, nor did we have enough voting members present to vote on a by law change.
We don’t table things. The agenda item is passed or not; if it fails to pass it can be re-submitted next meeting since there is otherwise no continuity.
Do you not recall Luke accepting my request and asking for a show of hands showing an opposition to banning alcohol? I know @Photomancer was especially concerned that a show of hands be made.
That sounds like a vote. Still a moot point, IMO.
Yes, it was an “Advisor vote” of the membership.
