As you can see I need to carve out just a bit of space for each pickup.
I’m thinking this is a job for a router, but I have never used a router before and I don’t know where to locate ours.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Is a router something I could just watch a youtube video on to get up to speed?
If anyone is going to be around this weekend that could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
TIA!
A plunge router would definitely do the job. I do believe we have one. I should be around this weekend and can point you in the right direction if you like.
Youtube is a great place to start for understanding how to use it.

Yeah they look really easy to operate, but knowing me I would find the incorrect way to use it.

Nah, it provides audible and visible feedback if you are doing it incorrectly. Also the obvious thing of not losing fingers

we do have 2 plunge routers and a whole mess of bits. The best thing would probably be to mark in sharpie the sections you need to cut away so you have a guide so to speak.

Thanks guys!
This sumbitch is getting built one way or another before I leave!
I may have to make an opaque pickguard to hide where I screwed up the routing, but dammit this thing needs to be done, I’ve been without a six string for months.

I located the router pretty quickly, but I wasn’t able to locate the bits for it. I suspect they might be in the locked cabinet but I have no idea.
They are in the rolling cabinet. Same bits used for the router table and hand held router.

Welp, I found the bits, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to put the two together.
