Mills for the Multicam

I was using the multicam on 12/4 and was disappointed to discover that there were no 1/8" ball bits to use. On further inspection of all the bits, I found that there were a couple broken ones that had been replaced in the drawer. I’d be happy to inventory our supply, but I wasn’t sure if this was necessary because there may be a backup supply somewhere.

Is there anything I can do to help with the Multicam?

Also, if I wanted to buy my own mills(1/4" flat downcut, 1/4" flat upcut, 1/4" ball, 1/8" ball) for cutting MDF and soft wood, what should I look for to be compatible with our collets and machine?

Thanks,
Brian

Try emailing Cnc Supervisors if you don’t hear back here. Also generally tag the team that’s in charge of the area, in this case @Team_Woodshop.

As far as I know, which is not very far, we don’t stock ball end mills… only 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/8” flat bottom end mills.

Any CNC bit that has a 1/4”, 3/8” or 1/2” (and maybe 1/8”? I’m blanking now…) shaft will fit in our collets. Popular brands include misenheimer, Amana, and Freud.

Personally I like Amana because I like their documentation and accessibility. Misenheimer has good documentation but I find them harder to order online. That said, I’ve bought a few Misenheimer bits because I needed something that was bigger than what Amana offers. D&R saw and tool down in north dallas has been my best luck at finding Misenheimer bits. Never looked at Freud.
