Millermatic 252 gun

Thank you to the secret Santa that brought consumables for the gun. I threw in a few .35 contact tips.
Here’s what I learned:

  • to use a standard m25 nozzle you need to use the longer gas nozzle. This gives a1/8" recess for the contact tip as spec’ed. The one on the gun is the short one. The longer one can be screwed in with a little finesse.
  • I could not get the new piece the gas nozzle screws into to screw into the gun. I stopped fearing I’d cross thread it.The old one is missing an o ring which effects how the nozzle is seated.

If we want the gun to use the standard m25 model someone needs to finesse in the gun to gas nozzle piece and screw in the longer gas nozzle. Contact tip is the same. Nozzle is m25 part number.

This evening the gun on the Millermatic was partially disassembled. The pieces were unscrewed, the c clamp was broken, the contact tip was not properly screwed in place. Maybe someone was working on it, but there was no sign, the nozzle was on the gun and the wire had a blob of metal at its end. The the welder was inoperable as it was.

Too get it working I took the c clamp and o ring from the new piece and moved them to the old one.The new nozzle fits snugly. With this nozzle the contact tip is just about flush with the end of the nozzle.

There is probably a good reason for using this nozzle. I am a rookie welder. I find using nozzle part number 169724 results in a better weld. With this nozzle the contact tip is recessed 1/8" . This is one off the nozzles recommended for the m25 gun.

I apologize if I stepped on anyone’s toes or out of bounds.
