We tried to use Miller 300 yesterday, but could not get it to arc. Anyone experienced on this machine know what might be going on?
@vsustko
Yep. You need to put your consumables in it. The electrode is hosed and likely the nozzle too. Last week I went to use it and the electrode was worn beyond use so I went to metroplex welding supply and bought consumables. I can swing some by for you to buy after 7pm.
Remember that this machine does not have a drag shield. You must maintain a 1/16" gap between the nozzle and your work, or you will rapidly destroy your nice new consumables.
Yep. I didn’t buy the drag setup…the nozzle retainer was like $40…so I opted out. I just try to steady my hand above the piece with my other hand. It supposedly allows for better visibility, but I don’t make use of the visibility.
Good to know! Thanks for the offer, I will be at the space next weekend and was looking to get consumables before then.
Just to clarify, electrode and nozzle are the pieces likely to burn up and should supply own? Is there a drag shield part number available? Would hate to order wrong parts.
The nozzle and electrodes are fine if you plan on keeping the tip off of the metal you are cutting.
