I’m in charge of finding gifts for my High School for the holiday party (ya one more thing to pile onto my ever growing list) I wrote The Mavs last night and was relayed into this website. I’ve poked around for a solid 5 minutes and I think it might be of interest but (in honesty) I’m not sure we are large and formulaic enough to need something like this.
Another idea. Many employers have a non profit donation match program. If we could get members to pay their yearly dues and then file it at work that’s an easy ~$500 per person.
With >2,000 members that’s like over
They can only submit the donations ABOVE and beyond the membership fees.
What if everyone who gets:
-
$1000 donated cash (not equipment) gets a free year thank you membership (500 them / 500 match)
-
$50k lifetime membership
-
$100k lifetime family membership
Could be a great way to get cash influx and get people working on grants with cash awards.
I hope people don’t think this is serious… just to be clear Dallas Makerspace dues are not a charitable tax deduction and dues are not considered a donation. Employee matching is great but it needs to be above what you already pay for dues to be eligible.
Kudos for thinking of an alternative.
