Metal shop plasma cutter

I know the metal shop is talking about buying a scribe attachment for the plasma cutter…
I just saw this using a sharpie - made by a maker

I was going to bring up that video but didn’t seem like anyone wants to take on that project. I’m sure there is a solenoid output we can control for the pen up and down. Sharpies are cheap, and if it breaks we make another one.

There is the output for it, its built in. I dont think the sharpie would last much at all.

I feel like an additional very light spring included inline with the down-position spring that already exists could cushion the tip of the sharpie enough to significantly reduce wear and tear.

At least that’s the failure mode I imagined first.

What if we add that fiber laser that was donated to us on it?
