Metal shop meeting Sat June 1 3pm

Reminder that Metal Shop meeting is Saturday.
Max will be out of town
The only agenda item I can think of is whether to allow glass committee members to use metal shop equipment.
We will also discuss supplies, maintenace, training, and cleanup

I’m a new member and would like to attend to start becoming familiar with the metal shop, procedures, and requirements etc.

Mark

guess I misread the date, nm

Don’t worry, we’ll have more. :grinning: They are monthly on the first Saturday at 3 pm and are on the calendar several months in advance.

thanks, think I initially saw it as June 13 rather than June 1 3 pm and thought it was upcoming.

being new to DMS I’m sort of helpless and trying to figure things out. I got through the Hot Process procedure requirement ok, but see that the grinder lesson can’t be self enrolled? Can someone help me understand how do I go about handling this?

I also see a MIG class scheduled for this Saturday, but am unsure about what I may need to supply if anything or how to contact the person putting on the class to ask?

again, my apology for being the bothersome bright green grasshopper noob. :green_circle:
.

You should request a Green dot to get access to the members-only sections of Talk. Dallas Makerspace members (primary or family/add-on) in good standing may request access to Members Only categories (e.g. Issues & Requests ) by requesting a Green Dot

Marks… welcome to DMS. As far as the mig class on Saturday if you’ve already done the hot process you will need to supply… $10.

Seriously, just sign up and note the special considerations.

Wire, gas, masks, metal… all included for the class.

If you own welding gloves, you should bring them. Be sure to wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt – cotton or some other natural fiber. If you’re thinking of wearing a t-shirt or other knit shirt, be sure to check the content label to make sure that there’s no polyester or spandex, or nylon. Those melt. For that matter, most of the designs on t-shirts can melt onto you if hit with a spark. Leather boots or shoes. Safety glasses if you own them.

We should still have some gloves and safety glasses that can be borrowed.

You’ll need to sign into the Calendar using your username and account password. You did get 100% on the HPS class, right?
