Metal Shop Committee meeting Saturday, September 8th, 2018

We will be having a committee meeting on September 8th, 2018 at 12:00 PM followed by cleaning & upkeep of the equipment. Going forward, should I be voted as chair at this meeting, I plan on a meeting & cleanup the first Saturday of each month.

Pre-listed Action items:

The urgent Board-mandated elections (yes, already). They want a clean round of elections for terms going until at least Spring to ride through the expansion, construction, etc

Discuss recent events and issues including, but not limited to:
– Even more updates to signage or other mitigations (since people still can’t read apparently)
– Talk about the exhaust changes for the new Dynatorch table, and the proposed shop layout for expansion
– If we receive the next set of details before the meeting, discuss the Fibre Laser offer
– Take opinions on what people want in the next welding table

Call for Volunteers
– help packing up the old PlasmaCAM for pickup by the owner when we start to setup the new Dynatorch
– help assembling the new Dynatorch when received & working the ducting for the exhaust

After these required discussions, an open forum for any new items.

Once the committee activities are over, we will be cleaning the room & servicing equipment.

Cheers,
-Jim

Yep, That’s right guys the new CNC plasma has been ordered. It is expected in the next few weeks to show up. We intend on putting it into service as quickly as possible. This means the Plasmacam will be de-commissioned sooner than later. I intend on taking some time off work to start getting ready for it & putting it in. We will be focused on getting the training running asap. There will be a train the trainers class as well. I will personally ask those who do sign up for the train the trainers that you put a class on the calendar by the end of the train the trainers. The current trainers will likely get the first shot at the class. The more help we have from folks on this the better we will be off, on getting things running smoothly.

If the PlasmaCAM is being decommissioned, can we at least cut some new pieces for the bed and return it to the person who put it on long term loan in good shape?
