Measurement of the horizontal cutter

What’s the max cut size of the horizontal?

horizontal band saw?
or some other “cutter”?

If you’re talking about the horizontal bandsaw (Wellsaw Model 8), it seems to be 8" or 9" for rounds and 20"x8" for rectangular sections. The Wellsaw manual for it is not great.

And of course… when I said horizontal… I should have said vertical.

So, the PowerMatic 87 is what you’re wanting to know about?

I’m confused, so I hope that’s helpful.

Being a 20" bandsaw, I’m supposing the capacity is 20"…
Not quite clear on that, either, and making an assumption; thus the furnishment of the link for the manual.

EDIT: is the “Maximum depth of cut under guide” at 12.5" the figure you’re asking for?

Bandsaw sizes are weird. Generally, a 20-inch bandsaw is called such because of the clearance between the blade and the throat (the cabinet covering the other side of the blade). That doesn’t necessarily mean you have 20 inches of vertical clearance above the table, as you noted above.

Recalled thinking that as I read through the specs in the front of the manual. Hadn’t looked it up yet to be sure, but I figured that must be the case. Hopefully I can remember that moving forward.

Thanks for the info guys.
