(hey, wasn’t there talk at one point about making some sort of measurements SIG or some such?)
I’ve been eyeing this little guy for a while, as a nice compact little home-use tool (overkill for home use? of course! Overkill is what measurement junkies do) but never talked myself into buying it – still not a great time for me to do that, but I wish it were!

For those keeping track: yes, that says 0.00005". Aka AA grade/laboratory grade flatness. Any tighter flatness than that and you’d need to control for thermal expansion of the granite. (And it’s Fowler, so I believe them!)
A bargain at anywhere under $100, IMHO, but Amazon regularly has it between $75-$80. But as far as I can tell, it has never been at $65 like it is now. So heads up for those of you that dig this sort of thing. No idea how long the deal will last, but I don’t imagine it’ll return any time soon. (And as an aside: yes, belated birthday presents are happily accepted!)
