Greetings friends,
Just an update on the installed MasterCams in the computer lab. The first 3 attempts of opening the program on 3 separate machines failed with the ol’ License not found type message. When I got to 4-6 they all loaded. I went back to the first 3 and they too loaded. So if at first you don’t succeed keep trying as it may take a minute to wake up the license server.
The post processors appear to be installed so you can now create your favorite machine for tool paths. You can’t post the code on those and we’ll get back to you on when we have the big computer online.
Not all the tools appear to be loaded/created. There are 285 tools in the database most of which are drills. I have a more complete tool database on my computer but I need to investigate how to transfer some of those to these machines. you can create your own tools but that’s a pain.
In the meantime you can begin playing and learning with the machines in the pillar of solitude. cheers!

Came in today and tried one of the computers in the lab. Approximately 500 tools are available
so that covers most endmills, drills, etc. so I don’t need to try to add any.
Turns out I was able to post code from that license so there might not be a rush on the big computer. The only problem was that it will still generate a G187 which our haas does not recognize. I was able to modify the local configuration file to not post it, but it didn’t take. Might have to have admin priveledge to that it saves it to the right place.
I still haven’t seen how to add form tools but it can wait since I’m not generating code for the MultiCam yet.
Cheers!

Speaking of MasterCam - ran across this in one of my techie enews:
https://www.mastercam.com/community/competitions/wildestparts/
it’s easy to guess that anyone doing 5 axis work will have the most impressive parts (like the Darth Vader head that’s been shown).
Hmmm…maybe they should have separate classes for orthogonal 3 axis cncs and 4/5 axis cncs
