Major traffic shift tonight!

So the construction company is finally moving forward with the shift to the new permanent south bound frontage road. Exir 444 to Sandy Lake/ Whitlock lane will be permanent closed to make room for the added lanes come Saturday mourning. From now on if you are coming to the space via 35E south bound, you must use the 444 Frankford exit.

Wow! That’s horrible news that will really mess up all the traffic going onto Beltline and Valwood, but thanks for sharing it.

EDIT: Keep reading. I misunderstood. It’s only the Sandy lake exit.

they are all closed except for exit 444 Marshall!

No, no the only exit this effects is SB Sandy Lake/ Whitlock 444. That’s being permanently shut down.

The I35 website confirms your latest information … only the Sandy Lake exit is affected.

I fail to see where the issue is. Why would you exit at Sandy lake to get to the MakerSpace? Valwood is the closest exit and it’s open…

  1. Because people don’t know how to drive and wrecks happen all to often on this part of the highway TOO OFTEN!
  2. Which causes backups and often makes those coming southbound seek alternate routes.
  3. The current southbound Valwood exit is also TEMPORARY. Meaning it will soon close and the location WILL CHANGE.
  4. It may or may not be in be in the same area.
  5. Until the ENTIRE southbound side of the highway and service road is completely done, there will be constant detours, delays, congestion and confusion until then.
    So it’s best to memorize the new routes and exits to keep you, me and at least all the DMS members safe until 35E construction is complete.
