Machining v notch at end of a dop rod

Collet block will be the ideal, as others mentioned with a vise stop makes really quick work of it.

You can use the dividing head with direct indexing(disengaging the gear set), however it appears our direct indexing pin is missing. If you are curious on dividing heads, look up BS-0 dividing head. They are the standard copied head.

Here’s a picture @tbjk just posted using the square collet block:

Standard 5C collets fit into the block. Your workpiece will obviously have to fit into one of the standard-sized 5C collets.

I know … now your next question would be what size collets we have. Anyone else want to chime in ?

Tim - where do we store the vise stop?

It is in the cabinet

Late to the conversation, but this might be a good choice for the V-grove:

That’s pretty interesting, too. will have to keep that in mind.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I machined a block to hold my dop. I think if I use this with the bench vise stop, I should be able to flip it and keep the slot and the V slot in alignment. Thanks for all the suggestions!
