Partial off topic, but I can say that I feel there are only 2 qualified riggers in the metroplex. Able Machinery Movers, My opinion the best & DFW machinery movers. The others are cheaper for a reason. I have had to yell at the other companies that if they didn’t listen then they would be paying for their mistakes.
Several of them have dropped machines.
One dropped a machine on a valve, We had to then make the repairs on the valve & have an eddy current done. The loss of refrigerant on that one was about 500lbs of R-134a. They impact, luckily was not significant, no loss of service to 911 or other telecommunications services.
Another broke a 3/4" cast iron arm on a magnetic bearing chiller. That cost them a new compressor, insurance anyways about 120k.
End point, We need to be prepared to pay for the good riggers. If we don’t we look at the possibility of having the machine down for a significant amount of time, potentially costing us members.
I would expect that we would have to move over a period of time
Start moving some of the workshop while the classrooms are
being finished out
I would expect that unless we want long down times, some venting will
have to be done at the new site, instead of moving what we have
We will need to pay rent on both locations for several months. Members can hel[
but se cant depend on them for all the work,
We dont have anywhere near enough money, Heck until the audit is done, we do
the the knowledge of our finances to consider moving
I have known one of the salespersons, Mike Alianell, for 30 years.
They are a stand up company. Their reputation is inter as well as national.
A company that has embraced quality all during their time in the industry.
I always dealt with Max Stone at Able. He is semi-retired from my understanding. He still does pricing for one customer. We use them very often. If it’s over 3 tons, we would call them. Two ton chain falls aren’t too expensive but once you start getting over 3, the price goes up. The gantry’s we have are rated at 2 tons anyway. We have 4-5 sets of those.
I’m a little late to this, but just another positive recommendation for Able Machinery Movers. I work for a large-scale aluminum extruder in Carrollton, and we use Able for all of the large equipment moves we cannot handle in-house. For example, just recently they moved and installed a component for us weighing roughly 16tons with no issues.
