Machine Shop temporary machinery coverings

All,
During the construction of the new Blacksmithing walls, some of the Machine Shops equipment will be covered with plastic to protect the machines from the drywall dust.

I would like to discourage using the equipment while they are doing the drywall work during the day. This will help minimize the risk/damage to the equipment.

If you use the equipment, be sure to put the plastic back over the equipment when you are done. Obviously make sure the equipment is not hot before you place it back

Currently the 2 lathes are covered as well as part of the HAAS. I will be getting more plastic to cover the rest of the equipment I feel needs to be covered. This includes the sherlines & the knee mills(Bridgeports).

Thank you for your cooperation during this construction phase.

Is there a reason we’re not capturing the dust at the source of the dust?

Sheetrock is tough to capture the dust at the sander, it is more typically handled by temporary plastic partition on spring poles. Spring poles for 9 to 12 foot ceilings are fairly common. Spring poles for 22 foot ceilings and plastic sheeting, are not so common. Using them affects the pricing and space needed, and the more rare tall ones surely hurt the price more.

Yeah, that’s what I was wondering. Did we get that bid out.

Do we have a timeline on how long this is supposed to take?

Estimated completion date is May 2nd, although obviously that can vary.

Thank you for the update.

Any idea when they’ll be done with the drywall sanding? Are they going to spray the paint, or roll it?

Once they get to the less messy parts (electrical, doors, switches, HVAC, exhaust and what-not) we can probably resume in machine shop.

No idea on the detailed schedule, I was just working off the contract. I’d bet we see substantial completion by the middle to end of next week. Briana may know more.

They put up a plastic screen. The equipment is usable now.
