I replaced the run capacitor on the Delta 50-850 dust collector today and it is working.

The replacement capacitor is the smallest diameter (the length is no problem) I could find but is a tight fit for the existing external cover. I’ll add a second bolt the next time I’m at DMS and some electrical tape on the contacts that are inside the cover for extra measure. For now I think it’s OK to use…

I’ve connected the vacuum tube to the Shapeoko 3 XXL dust shoe and left it that way as a hint to users they can start using it.

Yesterday, the dust cabinet motor wouldn’t stay on. It spun up slowly, over two seconds, then it tripped the circuit breaker which disconnected it. The same thing happened with the end of the vacuum tube covered. The dust shoe works well.

Before my class this evening I had enough time to check the Delta. This time the Start capacitor was bad. Tim reminded me that we had a spare and I swapped that in and the Delta is back in service.
