This will also be good preparation for the planned visit by the inheritance machining team .

When are they coming ?

Dang it @TBJK , I could make any weekend work except that one!

Maybe setup a meeting, even if it’s a conf call, to get a plan of action together?

We could use the opportunity to make more efficient use of the space such as putting the R8 collets and work holding bits in a consolidated fixture between the two mills, etc.

That way we can hit the 13th running.

Can’t wait to get dirty!

Still in planning stages . They are traveling for a video this week .

I do agree with @bort_box that a conference call should be had to get things in order so we’re not just doing things all willy nilly without a plan of action. I’ve already been slowly putting together a rather long to-do list of things that need doing, both for housekeeping and for maintenance on all our machines. I’m using the makerspace’s Monday. (it’s a workflow application for those who don’t know what that is)

I’ve been slowly trying to get the chairs set up on it to keep better track of all their equipment, PM, inventory, and documentation so it’s in one place. I’m already keeping track of everything the metalshop needs to do there, and it’s what Ian uses to keep track of all the logistics tasks as well; once you put the effort to get it set up It’s rather easy to use. If anyone wants access to it then please let me know.

Along with pallet rack assembly in Machine Shop, there will be assembly for the Logistics area and in the breaker room (future hamshack).

Machine Shop - 2x uprights, 4x 16 ft beams, 6x 10ft beams
Logistics - 2x uprights, 6x 12ft beams
breaker room - 2x uprights, 6x 12ft beams

In Automotive the area in front of the garage door will need to be kept clear. Motorcycle area will be used to temporarily store bins, etc from the breaker room. Plan on Automotive to crowded and busy.

Pallet rack parts will be delivered to and temporarily stored in the open Wood Shop area.

A lot of stuff to be moved around and assembled in 4 hours!

Has anyone actually mentioned this need for the motorcycle space to automotive?

Talked to Sam last nite.
They will be moving pallet racks within Automotive.
Fun times on Sat.

So we are all tangentially aware that the Colchester is basically unusable at the point, right?

I was listening to people talk about gears and handles, but I used the machine for the first time in a while and just the backlash on the crossfeed (I do know of the adjustment screws) makes the lack of power feed even worse.

We are leveling up on the mill front, but the lathes are just sad.

What can I do to help fix this?

-martin

If you want to work on replacing knobs. I used the Colechester Friday night. The anti-backlash nut is on the cross slide. I have to adjust it almost every time I use it.

On it.

Barrels are done. Didn’t have it in me to drill, tap, and countersink at a twenty degree angle on a curve tonight.

Should finish up this week!

So far the Colchester looked like it needed some 710 fluid in the apron. Time will tell on the power feed.
