Machine Shop Band Saw: I may have screwed up last night

Late last night (Thursday 6/17/21), I made some cuts on the CNC plasma cutter, and one of the cuts ended up about 1/2" short. Afterwards, I used the machine shop 20" band saw to complete the straight cut.

This morning I got to thinking about it, and the mystery metal I was plasma cutting might have been too hard for the blade in the band saw.

While the saw completed the cut quickly, I may have done damage to the blade.

Out of an abundance of caution, would someone mind checking the blade and see if I “done a bad thing?

If so, I’ll pay for a replacement blade - just let me know…

As an aside, if we_do_ need to replace the blade, I’d like to have the old blade for use with my blacksmithing projects (you know, since I’m paying for it anyway  )

The blade is likely dull. I cut some Al on it this AM and it got hot.

Blade replaced it’s a consumable.

I’ll dig the remains from the machine shop trash and put it in the metal shop for you. It’s only HSS,

Normally in the past, we got bi-metal blades for metal cutting. I assume this was also bi-metal with HSS edge.

Bi metal blades have a spring steel base with a carbide band electron beam welded on to it and the teeth ground into the band. The spring steel is typically one of the HSS grades.
