Looking for a straight dried limb

Hi all,

We have a new maker in the space that is transitioning from a walker to a cane/walking stick and they would love to turn it on one of our lathes. Anyone out there have a piece of well seasoned hardwood (bodark/ Osage orange would be ideal) that is reasonably straight and dry? Looking for roughly a 2" diameter and 5+ feet in length.

Donations gratefully accepted and more than willing to trade turning classes for the wood.

Let me know please. Many thanks!

I might be able to grab some pecan wood. Let me get back to you after Thursday. Also, will our lathe support something that long?

Great! Thank you! The OneWay with the bed extension is right at 5 feet I’m pretty sure. Meant to measure it when I was in last but forgot to.

I have a bunch of old 10-15 foot, fairly straight crepe myrtle branches. Probably the wrong thing, but they’re available and free.

Hi, That might work really well - Fairly light and strong. I’ll DM you. Thank you!
