Looking for a shop where I can buy high density upholstery foam

It’s time to fix sofa cushions. Are there any upholstery makers out there who can recommend a local source?

Cutting Corners in Addison on Midway (just north of 635) has lots of good foam. Their main product is upholstery and interior decorating fabric. They’ve been in business forever and are nice to work with.

That being said, I’ve not strongly comparison shopped foam because I only needed a smaller piece at a time and the price wasn’t exponential like it would be for more. So shop around, because high-density foam for upholstery can be sticker-shocking :slight_smile:

While you’re in the area, there are now quite a few fabric places further up Midway. Some are more clothing fabric but worth a look.

There’s also a cheap fabric area that might carry stuff but I haven’t shopped there in years. Golden D’or or such if I recall.

I know @Kriskat30 or @dryad2b can fill you in on that area of shops since they are go-to for costuming fabric. They might can suggest ones with foam. If they have what you want, it’d probably be a great price.

Can’t really say as I’m not usually in the market for foam. Cutting Corners prices on fabrics have always seemed a bit high to me. The Perth St area has shifted a bit, and I’ve never been looking specifically for foam… Golden D’or moved rather south on Harry Hines. Best Fabrics moved across Harry Hines from Perth St. Still looks like there are several fabric stores down on Perth. How that relates to foam? Unknown (by me).

At least one of the places on Perth is mostly home decor fabric, I don t know about foam however,

Agree. I think Cutting Corners can be a bit higher price (thus strong suggestion to comparison shop) but quality is good, I know they for sure have high-density foam for upholstery. Usually I go there when my time is limited and I don’t have time to run all over town and I know they’ll have everything I need and good selection of quality wares. One-stop shopping. It might cost more, but it depends. Sometimes I have more money than time. Sometimes I have more time than money :slight_smile:
