I’ve got an upcoming project this weekend, and I’m wondering where to source a RTD or thermocouple locally in DFW. Anyone have a favorite place?
Seems like I was looking at one at Grainger once upon a time.
Yup, and a bit cheaper than I expected:
Do they still thumb their noses at walk-ins who don’t have an account? I recall a not-so-great experience with the one over in Plano a decade or so ago.
No not really. John Q homeowners come in on a regular basis. I’d check Temperature Controls http://www.temperaturecontrolsystems.net or Industrial Controls http://www.industrialcontrolsonline.com
They both have local office around the metroplex.
I have a few that look like that. I can look when I get home from work today and let you know the shapes / sizes. Could give you one or more at my cost - they were pretty cheap, I recall.
I appreciate the offer, but I need to make sure I’ve got a working setup due to a deadline. I’m going to pick one up from Grainger today. Thanks!
I’m totally sure I have one that will work if you can’t get one or want to wait. They were so cheap that I actually bought several different sizes and shapes. Heck, I’ll give you one or more to play with. I won’t be using them all and that project is delayed pending the free time that I don’t have
I bought them for a brick oven I was going to cast.
I even have a cheap TC reader (looks like a multimeter and reads 4 TC’s) that I bought. I can loan it to you.
I picked up that RTD over lunch, and I’ve got a 1/4 DIN process controller which will drive the whole system.
Again, I really do appreciate the offer! I’ll keep you in mind when I next have a need.
Cool, let us know how it works out.
I had the same problem a while wound up buying a meter.
