Long term task for leather working SIG

I would like to take an inventory of that cabinet and make it digital so it can be posted online. It’s something that can be achieved quickly if people work together.

While the task is large I believe the result is worth it.

Who is up for this task?

Give me the time and place, and I will make the digital records for the folks who know what the tools are and more importantly what they are called.

@bitta @coloneldan Would you be willing to assist or possibly oversee this? I will see if I can get some additional help as well. This is something that can be done a little bit at a time.

Thank you! I’ve contacted the guy from Tandy to see if he could come out and make short work of the task for us.

You bet!

Are you wanting just tools or consumables as well?

Are you wanting model numbers where applicable or just what the tool is called?

Just thinking about how to create the list so it’s not instantly out of date and has to be constantly updated as we go through consumables and tools wear out. Generic enough we have some wiggle room for purchasing and restocking and specific enough that folks know what’s on hand. If we list the consumables online, but not the quantities and then during the SIG mtgs we can do a quick check to see what needs to be restocked or purchased.

I think both. I was thinking for the scrap leather we could put a line on the bucket and once we get under it’s time to reorder.

I’m making a general “monthly” checklist of the consumables in the room - it’s something that should have happened before the growth of last year.

The guy from Tandy is willing to come up and help as well so with a few experts and a couple of people to enter information it won’t be a beating. A list of tools would be great. Possibly even have some sort of numbering system?

But simplification is always best.

I’ll do a master list like I have here at the house on Excel so we can sort it to be dual purpose…no prob. To pimp to the Membership AND to track inventory…roger that, Boss!

Pimp to membership - waaahahahaha that should be a t-shirt.
Pimping membership one tool at a time.

I’m happy to assist, too but it all depends upon my time availability. Too many irons in the fire at the moment I guess. Great idea though. The actual detailed inventory would be nice to know. Thanks to Walter and Bitta for volunteering.

I’m trying to get the whole room mildly inventoried. It’s a task that will take several hands but in the end it will be worth it.
