Logo Font re-creation

I want to do some stuff as gifts for my brother. I’d like some to feature his company logo, but they’ve lost the source data in any reasonable resolution. I’m mostly concerned about turning the lettering into a vector drawing, and not worried about the wood grain background or fade at the ends of the logo text. Is there a good way to do this beyond just recreating it in a drawing package?

I initially figured I’d be able to buy the font, but I’ve looked a bit and not found an available font.

Live trace in illustrator might be a good starting point. But you will need to recreate the areas that fade out. You could also run it through what da font or other font ID websites and see if something similar comes up. Good luck! That’s a tricky one.

Thank you very much!

If you haven’t yet, try ‘WhatTheFont’ it’s a great tool. Not sure if there is enough characters there for it to find but… Otherwise tracing in illustrator or similar is probably the best bet

If you can’t find the font, Solidworks does a good job. What are you referring to by “Fade out”? Anyway, a little messing around (Maybe 15 minutes) and I think I got pretty close.

I think that someone didn’t realize that the logo is cut completely through the block of wood, so it looks like it fades out on the end where it’s fully lit.

This what I meant by “Fade” It’s really a shade effect where the logo stops but the cut continues
