Is there a place to buy Ninja Flex locally?
Hi Gary (@Fastsmiles)…
I’m not aware of any place that stocks it on a regular basis. PolyPrinter has had some in the past; but you would need to check with Ed (@edkman) to see if they have any (or have plans to get some).
If you are needing to print in NinjaFlex soon and don’t have time to wait on ordering some, we can make arrangements for you to be trained on using NinjaFlex in one of our printers, then you would be able to use the NinjaFlex that the 'Space has. I’m not sure which colors we have at the moment; but, can check when I get to the 'Space in about an hour. Since NinjaFlex costs more to purchase, it also costs more to print with when using the filament available at Dallas Makerspace. The cost to print with our NinjaFlex filament is set at: $0.30/gram.
Please let us know if you would like to be trained on it in order to use NinjaFlex at the 'Space.
Thank you!
Lisa
Is there any rule against coming in and cutting off a few grams of ninjaflex and paying for it then taking it home and trying it out in your personal 3d printer? at .30 a gram of course.
As long as it’s weighed and paid for (at .30/gram), I don’t mind. Be sure to bring your own plastic bag for it, since we don’t always have them available. You might want to tare the scales with the empty bag on it first, then cut what you want and weigh it in the bag - since it’s pretty “floppy” and might be difficult to keep still long enough to weigh it.
Thanks for asking!

I probably should clarify… This is something that would be case by case, as we are not “selling” filament as re-sellers… In this case, it’s to allow Paul to experiment with a small sampling of filament that he doesn’t currently have easy access to. Thanks again!
IF memory Serves me right, FRY’s (12710 Executive Dr.) Had some in stock about a month ago. They also had 3 different brands. One brand is made here in DFW, the MakerBot Brand and some other super-expensive one, that is pulled trough unicorn tears apparently.
…X…
Kewlness ~ good to know! I hadn’t actually went there in person - only checked online… Out of curiosity, I’ll have to go by in person to see what else they have in the way of 3D printing… Thx!
I not sure about ninja flex but micro center has a good selection of colors and types and brands
I haven’t seen any flex at Microcenter, but their Toner Plastics brand for $18.99 a roll seems to work pretty good in my home printer.
They had the house brand on sale for 11.99 a roll at one point. Nice way to stock up
Thanks Ben (@Awesomer)
We actually bought some of their flexible filament to test in our Printrbot Simple Metal 3D printer last weekend. It’s no-where near as rubbery/flexible as NinjaFlex; but, is actually much easier to work with (and more rigid, so likely more day to day type uses for it). After we finish testing and tweaking, what’s left will be available for members - who get trained to use the Printrbot - to use at $0.20/gram. A separate thread will be created when we get to that point. At any rate, thanks again.
